World Food Day
16 Oct 2019
FOOD IS MEANT FOR SHARING; NOT WASTING!
World Food Day was observed as a custom in our MANASAROWAR PUSHKARINI VIDYASHRAM on 16 October 2019. This day was intended towards remembering the great amount of efforts in establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
Let us look back on how it started,
The member countries of the Food and Agriculture Organisation established World Food Day in November 1979 at the organisations 20th General Conference and called for the observance of World Food Day on 16 October, 1981. This decision was ratified by the UN General Assembly on 5 December, 1980 and urged governments and international, national and local organisations to contribute to celebrating World Food Day. Since 1981, World Food Day has been held every year.
On this occasion, the students of grade 8 performed a small and meaningful act regarding preservation and conservation of food resources. The theme of the act was stressed on food for everyone. There are people who cannot afford to eat food even once in a day. These people should be given a helping hand by the people who are kind. And some flashing and eye catching flash cards and posters related to conservation of food resources were showcased in the act. Each placard and each poster was carrying different messages on how food can be shared, served, and more importantly how food should be consumed according to the needs of living beings.
